Man-made dam

Wooden bridge for ATV

ATV crossing

PR Ormes 03

Friday, August 6, 2010

Issue:

Camp located on left bank. ATV trail that crosses the brook downstream from the camp. Small wooden bridge right beside the ATV crossing. Man-made dam upstream from bridge. The dam is made with plastic, siding used for houses, and woody debris.

Action Required:

The dam must be removed immediately because it creates obstruction to fish passage. Landowner education on the effects of man-made dams on a watercourse. The approach to a ford can be stabilized using clean crushed rock on top of a geotextile.
