Restauration

The buffer zones’ restoration project includes several techniques for returning streams and buffer zones to their original state.

Once the buffer zones inventory is completed, the group ends up with several sites that require restoration work. Those sites could be affected by erosion, ATV trails, broken culverts, lack of vegetation in the riparian zone, etc. The restoration project helps improve or restore the natural status of these sites through several techniques identified in the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada’s Guide for the ecological restoration of degraded aquatic habitat.
