Millstream River

Waterfront property

Stair access

Millstream 20

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Issue:

Cottage with a waterfront view. Access to the river with stairs. Gazebo is very close to the water (1 meter). Lawn strip cut very short along the riverbank. Bank is very steep and eroded.

Action Required:

First, the eroded bank should be stabilized with rocks to slow down erosion. After, it is relatively simple to restore a buffer zone because all you need to do is let nature take its course. The first step consists of simply not cutting the strip beside the water. Before long, natural vegetation will reclaim its rights and benefit your property. Shortly after that, shrubs and trees will take root.
