Belledune 14

Thursday, August 4, 2011

Issue:

Bridge over Belledune river on route 134. The river turns into a marsh area downstream from the bridge and flows into the ocean. Light erosion, tree removal and some waste noted in area.

Action Required:

Restore the buffer zone by planting shrubs or by letting nature take its course by leaving a strip of untouched vegetation along the shore. A ‘‘Erosion protection’’ and/or ‘‘No dumping’’ sign should be erected near the site. The banks should be stabilized (with rip-rap rocks or with vegetation) order to slow down erosion and reduce sedimentation into the water court.

Alteration negligible
